On a dreary, rainy day two weeks ago; my family decided we needed a vacation. While there wasn’t enough time (or funds) to plan a vacation out of town, we found the perfect solution. We didn’t pack any bags. We didn’t fill up the tank of gas, or check the oil. In fact, we only had to hop in the car and drive about 10 minutes. At the end of our “journey” we found ourselves no longer in Kansas City. Instead, we had been transported into an underwater world of wonder, beauty, and amazement. We had arrived at Sea Life Aquarium. Check out the shark!
That's A HUGE stingray!
With our 7 month old and 4 year old daughters in tow, we embarked on a journey under the sea that was one we won’t soon forget! From the moment you walk in the door of Sea Life, you are greeted by so many beautiful creatures you’ll find yourself looking at the scenery through the lens of your camera more often than your own eyes! Caelyn (our 7 month old)’s eyes were big as saucers as she took in the many brightly colored fish. The eye level of the displays made if very easy for her to see from her stroller. Something I truly appreciated, as this isn’t usually the case at most venues we attend. Cyanne and Caelyn mesmerized by the touching "zoo".
Our 4 year old was excited to get hands on with the fish in the petting area! She remained excited throughout the entire trip, thanks treasure hunt they provide for children (and adults). We got excited answering the questions along the way, and taking bets on who could get the most correct (which turned out to be Dad, of course). Hands down, my family agreed that the claw exhibit was our ultimate favorite display! We had no clue there were crabs as big as the Japanese Spider Crab! There is also a very neat area where you can reach into a whole and feel the textures of different types of crabs. These Japanese Spider Crabs are HUGE!
If you’re looking to take your family on a vacation away from reality, without even leaving town, the Sea Life Aquarium is a must! Save money on your tickets here! While you’re in Crown Center, don’t forget to stop next door at Lego Land!
